Quick answer

Zoho CRM vs Freshsales: the short answer

Zoho CRM and Freshsales are two budget-friendly CRMs for small and mid-size sales teams. Zoho CRM is sold per user in Free, Standard, Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate editions, with deep customisation and Zia AI bundled from Enterprise. Freshsales, from Freshworks, is sold per user in Growth, Pro and Enterprise plans, with phone, email and chat built in and Freddy AI.

The sources reviewed describe the choice as breadth against calling. Zoho is described as the better value, with a permanent free edition, broader customisation and the option to bundle the wider Zoho suite. Freshsales is described as easier to set up in a day, with a dialer on every plan, but with fewer customisation options and AI placed on its Pro tier.

We compare what independent 2026 sources and the vendors' own pages support and mark the rest Unknown. Two sources are written by vendors (Freshworks and ZoomInfo), so we treat their claims as vendor-authored. Sources disagree on whether Freshsales still has a permanent free plan. No winner is declared.

All Freshsales plans and sources

Freshsales is cheaper at entry and Zoho is cheaper at the mid tier. Our arithmetic on reported annual prices for 10 users gives about $1,680 a year on Zoho Standard ($14 x 10 x 12), $2,760 on Professional ($23 x 10 x 12), $4,800 on Enterprise ($40 x 10 x 12) and $6,240 on Ultimate ($52 x 10 x 12), against $1,080 on Freshsales Growth ($9 x 10 x 12), $4,680 on Pro ($39 x 10 x 12) and $7,080 on Enterprise ($59 x 10 x 12).

Compare by feature rather than plan name. Zoho Professional at $23 includes Blueprint and unlimited reports, while Freshsales Pro at $39 is where sequences, multiple pipelines and AI scoring begin. Zia is bundled from Enterprise at $40, while Freshsales sells Copilot at about $29 per user, which would add about $3,480 a year for 10 users ($29 x 10 x 12).

Freshworks' own page claims Zoho's Zia requires a minimum of 20 licences, which we could not verify and which is a competitor claim. Prices changed on both sides recently, so confirm current terms with each vendor.

Considerations

Zoho CRM vs Freshsales: implementation, ecosystem, AI and security.

Ease of implementation and usability

We did not test setup or migration for either product. Guides describe Freshsales as ready within about a day and Zoho as needing more configuration but rewarding customisation. Both offer a trial, so import the same ten live deals into each.

Integrations and ecosystem

Zoho CRM integrates most naturally with other Zoho applications and can sit inside Zoho One. Freshsales integrates most naturally with Freshworks products. Integration counts were not verified, so check the specific tools you use.

AI capabilities

Zoho's Zia covers predictions, anomaly detection, call intelligence and agents, with fuller capabilities on Enterprise and Ultimate. Freshsales' Freddy covers contact scoring, deal insights and email drafting on Pro, with Copilot and an AI Agent as paid add-ons. Guides credit Zia with broader scope and Freddy with practical rep-level workflows. We did not test output quality.

Security, deployment and administration

Zoho lists sandbox testing, field encryption and approval workflows on Enterprise. Freshsales lists field-level permissions, a sandbox and audit logs on Enterprise. We did not review certifications or data residency, so request current security documentation from both vendors.

Strengths and limitations

Zoho CRM and Freshsales: each option, in balance.

Zoho CRM

Strengths and limitations from the profile

Strengths
  • A permanent free edition for up to three users lets very small teams start without a trial deadline.
  • Entry paid pricing is reported among the lowest for a full sales CRM, with unlock points clearly tied to editions.
  • Each edition adds specific named capabilities, which makes it easier to see what an upgrade buys.
  • Zia AI and custom modules are available on Enterprise, giving a path to AI and customisation without leaving the product.
Limitations
  • Per-user prices are only part of the cost: sources point to add-ons, storage, phone and configuration time.
  • Month-to-month billing is reported to cost noticeably more than annual billing.
  • Key capabilities such as Blueprint and Zia AI sit on higher editions, so choosing too low an edition can force a mid-year upgrade.
  • Sources disagree on some edition details, such as trial length and where territory management starts, so verify the features you need.

Freshsales

Strengths and limitations from the profile

Strengths
  • Built-in phone and email from the free tier reduce the need for separate calling tools.
  • A free plan for three users and a low-priced Growth plan make it affordable for startups.
  • Sequences, multiple pipelines and auto-assignment arrive at the mid-priced Pro plan.
  • Enterprise adds custom modules, AI forecasting, a sandbox and field-level permissions.
Limitations
  • The jump from Growth to Pro is steep, and key features such as sequences sit on Pro.
  • Much of the AI is sold as add-ons, so the real cost of AI features can exceed the plan price.
  • Freddy AI Agent is billed per session, which is consumption-based and hard to forecast.
  • Sources disagree on which plan introduces some AI features, so verify the features you need.
