monday.com vs ClickUp: the short answer
monday.com and ClickUp are two of the most shortlisted work management platforms. monday.com is a board-based platform sold per seat in a free plan and four paid plans, with separate CRM, dev and service products. ClickUp is a task-first all-in-one workspace sold per member from a free plan with unlimited members, with docs, whiteboards, goals and time tracking in the same product.
The sources reviewed describe the trade-off as capability against adoption speed. ClickUp is reported to give more features per dollar, with time tracking and dependencies on lower tiers. monday.com is reported to get non-technical teams productive faster, with a more polished mobile app, but gates automation, time tracking and dependencies behind higher plans and sells seats in buckets.
We compare what independent 2026 sources support and mark the rest Unknown. The main source for several figures is a guide published by Agiled, which sells a competing product, so treat its opinions with that in mind; we use it for published plan figures and cross-check where we can. No winner is declared: the better fit depends on team size and what you must have on the entry tiers.
- Budget-conscious teams that need time tracking, dependencies and many views on lower tiers
- Teams that want docs, goals and tasks in one workspace and will invest in setup
- Teams with an odd number of seats that would pay for unused monday.com bucket seats
- Non-technical teams and stakeholders that need to be productive within hours
- Teams that value a polished interface and mobile app
- Organisations that may add CRM, dev or service boards under the same vendor

All ClickUp plans and sourcesClickUp is cheaper at the entry and mid tiers. Our arithmetic on reported annual prices for 25 people gives about $2,100 a year on ClickUp Unlimited ($7 x 25 x 12), $3,600 on ClickUp Business ($12 x 25 x 12), $3,600 on monday.com Standard ($12 x 25 x 12) and $5,700 on monday.com Pro ($19 x 25 x 12). At Standard and Business the two cost the same, but the guides report that ClickUp includes time tracking and dependencies at that price while monday.com places them on Pro.
Seat rules change small-team totals. One guide reports that monday.com sells seats in buckets, so a seven-person team pays for ten: $120 a month on Standard against $84 for seven seats. On ClickUp the same team pays for seven members, about $49 a month on Unlimited ($7 x 7). Confirm the current seat rule with monday.com before you size a purchase.
AI changes the picture on the ClickUp side. Brain at the reported $9 per member would lift 25 members on Business to about $6,300 a year ($21 x 25 x 12). Sources differ on how monday.com packages AI, so ask for a written quote for the plan you need. Prices changed on both sides in 2026, so confirm current terms.

monday.com vs ClickUp: implementation, ecosystem, AI and security.
Ease of implementation and usability
We did not test setup or migration for either product. Guides describe monday.com as near-instant to onboard for non-technical teams and ClickUp as needing a few weeks of configuration to use well. One guide reports ClickUp offers a direct importer for monday.com boards, while moving the other way needs CSV export and manual mapping.
Integrations and ecosystem
One guide reports ClickUp connects to 1,000 or more tools through native integrations, Zapier, Make and its API, while monday.com offers 72 or more native integrations with deep two-way connections such as Jira and Salesforce, locked out of the Basic plan. Counts differ by source and were not verified, so check the specific tools you use.
AI capabilities
ClickUp Brain is sold as an explicit per-member add-on that is billed for every paid member, whether or not they use AI. monday.com has been moving towards AI agents and an assistant, with sources disagreeing on which plans include them and some features using credits. We did not test output quality for either product.
Security, deployment and administration
ClickUp lists advanced permissions and governance on Enterprise, with 250,000 automations a month reported at that tier. monday.com positions Enterprise for governance, security and scale on a quote basis. We did not review certifications or data residency for either product, so request current security documentation.
monday.com and ClickUp: each option, in balance.
monday.com
Strengths and limitations from the profile
- A free plan and clear Basic, Standard and Pro steps make it easy to start small.
- Timeline, calendar and guest access arrive at the mid-priced Standard plan.
- Automation allowances scale from 250 to 25,000 actions a month by plan.
- Paid plans require a minimum of three seats, which penalises very small teams.
- Enterprise pricing is quote-based and reported to carry a minimum 12-month term.
- monday CRM, dev and service are priced separately, so multi-product use costs more.
- The free plan is limited to two seats and three boards in at least one source.
ClickUp
Strengths and limitations from the profile
- The free plan includes unlimited tasks and members, which is unusually generous.
- Entry paid pricing of $7 per member is reported among the lowest for a full work management suite.
- Many functions such as docs, goals and dashboards sit in one workspace.
- Many features are capped by number of uses on lower plans rather than being unlimited.
- AI is a separate add-on billed on every paid member, which raises total cost.
- Goals, time tracking and workload management need the Business plan, not Unlimited.
- API limits of 100 calls a minute on most plans can bottleneck automation-heavy workflows.

No overall winner is declared. The better choice depends on the criteria that matter most to you, so test both against your own requirements.
