HubSpot vs Pipedrive: the short answer
HubSpot and Pipedrive are two of the most compared CRMs for small and mid-size sales teams. HubSpot is a customer platform with a free CRM and separately priced Hubs for sales, marketing and service. Pipedrive is a pipeline-first sales CRM sold per seat in four plans, with no permanent free plan.
The sources reviewed describe the difference as shape rather than quality. HubSpot is the platform choice: marketing, sales and service can share one customer record, and the CRM is free for two users. Pipedrive is the focused choice: it is cheaper per seat at each tier, has no mandatory onboarding fee and is quick to set up, but it bills every seat and sells extras as add-ons and top-up packs.
We compare what independent 2026 sources and the vendors' own pricing guidance support, and mark the rest Unknown. Both vendors restructured pricing recently and sources disagree on some figures, so we show the range. No winner is declared: the better fit depends on whether you need a pipeline or a platform.
- Want a free CRM to start and expect to add marketing or service on the same customer data
- Have people who only read reports and want them on free view-only seats
- Need sequences, forecasting and reporting on one platform and can budget for onboarding
- Run a sales-only team that wants a pipeline-first CRM operational quickly
- Prefer lower per-seat prices and no mandatory onboarding fee
- Are happy to add outreach, documents or email marketing as optional add-ons

All Pipedrive plans and sourcesOn list price Pipedrive is cheaper at every paid tier, but the two charge for different things. A September 2026 guide's two-year arithmetic for five sellers on annual billing gives $1,680 on Pipedrive Lite, $2,400 on HubSpot Sales Hub Starter at the $20 list price, $4,680 on Pipedrive Growth, $7,080 on Pipedrive Premium and $12,300 on HubSpot Professional once the $1,500 onboarding fee is included. We reproduced that arithmetic from the published seat rates.
Two assumptions change the picture. HubSpot's view-only seats are reported to be free, so a team of eight where three people only read reports can pay for five seats on HubSpot but eight on Pipedrive. And add-ons matter: a Growth team that needs web forms and proposals can find Premium at $59 is the better buy than Growth at $39 plus add-ons. Model your own seat count, your add-ons and the second year, not just the first month.
HubSpot's free CRM is the cheapest place to start if two users and no automation are enough. Beyond that, HubSpot's cost rises with each Hub, extra credits and onboarding. Pipedrive's cost rises with each seat and each top-up pack. Prices and plan names changed on both sides, so confirm current terms with the vendors.

HubSpot vs Pipedrive: implementation, ecosystem, AI and security.
Ease of implementation and usability
We did not test setup or migration. Independent guides describe Pipedrive as quick to make operational for a sales-only team, and HubSpot as more complex because of its Hub structure but unified once configured. HubSpot's Professional and Enterprise tiers require paid onboarding, while Pipedrive reports free implementation help on larger plans. Trial both with the same ten live deals before you decide.
Integrations and ecosystem
HubSpot states that Sales Hub integrates with over 1,500 applications, including Gmail, Outlook, Google Workspace, Stripe, Aircall and PandaDoc, and its marketing, service and content Hubs share the same customer data. Integration coverage for Pipedrive was not assessed in the sources reviewed, so check its marketplace for the tools you use. API limits and automation throughput are noted as considerations on HubSpot Enterprise.
AI capabilities
HubSpot lists AI tools, a Breeze assistant and agents, with HubSpot Credits consumed by AI and data enrichment. Pipedrive lists AI email tools and reports on Lite, and independent guides describe a deal-health dashboard and next-best-action suggestions on higher tiers, plus AI features in the LeadBooster add-on. We did not test output quality for either product.
Security, deployment and administration
Pipedrive reports enforced two-factor authentication on Lite and security rules and alerts on Ultimate, which is capped at 500 custom fields and 500 reports per user. HubSpot's governance features rise with tier, and its guide notes API and throughput limits on Enterprise. We did not review certifications or data residency for either product, so request current security documentation from both vendors.
HubSpot and Pipedrive: each option, in balance.
HubSpot
Strengths and limitations from the profile
- A free tier with no onboarding fee gives teams a low-risk place to start.
- One platform covers CRM plus sales, marketing, service and other Hubs on shared customer data.
- HubSpot documents a clear tier ladder with stated limits for pipelines, workflows, reports and calling minutes.
- AI tools are included in the free plan and paid Sales Hub tiers, according to HubSpot's guide.
- Professional and Enterprise carry one-time onboarding fees of $1,500 and $3,500 on top of seat prices.
- Custom objects are limited to Sales Hub Enterprise, which matters for teams with non-standard data models.
- The free tier is limited to two users, includes HubSpot branding, and has no automation or sequences.
- Costs rise when seat counts grow or other Hubs are added, because each Hub is priced separately.
Pipedrive
Strengths and limitations from the profile
- Per-seat pricing based on users rather than contact volume makes costs predictable for stable teams.
- The entry plan covers customisable pipelines and deal tracking at a reported low per-seat price.
- A clear four-plan ladder makes it easy to see where automations and forecasting begin.
- There is no permanent free plan, only a trial.
- Automations are reported to need the Growth plan or above, so the cheapest plan lacks them.
- Add-ons such as Campaigns and LeadBooster are priced separately and can raise the total cost.
- Per-seat pricing means the bill rises with every user added, and geo-pricing makes published figures differ by region.

No overall winner is declared. The better choice depends on the criteria that matter most to you, so test both against your own requirements.

HubSpot's free CRM is cheaper if two users are enough.
Does Pipedrive have a free plan?
No. Pipedrive offers a 14-day trial and its cheapest paid seat is Lite at $14 per month billed annually. HubSpot offers free CRM tools for up to two users.
Does HubSpot charge an onboarding fee?
On the higher tiers, yes. HubSpot lists required one-time onboarding of $1,500 on Sales Hub Professional and $3,500 on Enterprise. Free and Starter carry none.
Which has better automation, HubSpot or Pipedrive?
HubSpot documents up to 300 workflows on Professional and 1,000 on Enterprise, while Pipedrive starts automations on Growth and sells top-up packs for more. The sources reviewed do not support a quality ranking, so test your own workflows.
Can Pipedrive do email marketing like HubSpot?
Through its Campaigns add-on, priced per contact. HubSpot's marketing email sits in Marketing Hub, a separate product with its own pricing. If email marketing is the main job, compare the marketing products as well.
Which is better for a small sales team?
A sales-only team that wants a quick, focused pipeline is often a fit for Pipedrive. A team that wants a free start and plans to add marketing or service on the same data is often a fit for HubSpot. Price your own seat count over two years.
